Most of the last couple of days has been spent running all around the area surrounding Bree. I am a Rohirrim, dammit! I should not have to hoof it everywhere, running silly little errands for people! Unfortunately, my father, while insisting that I go to Bree to help out, also insisted that I left my horse back home. Not exactly sure why, but I think I heard the words ‘compensation’, ‘broken nose’ and ‘angry lord’ spoken before I left. I was quite hung over though, so I might be wrong.
On a more personal note, I’m now pretty sure that Lunetta the hobbit minstrel is completely into me. She even bought me a snazzy new coat! While it’s not exactly good for riding in, it does a good job of keeping out the rain… and I don’t have my horse with me, so I’m happy I have it.
Anyways, I think the business with Amdir has been settled for now. Too bad about him, too. He turned into something like a Nazgul, the poor bastard. We managed to put him to rest before he got too powerful, but not before he had killed three rangers. In the end, Amdir was dead, and the Nazgul had escaped. Things have been fairly quiet since then, and we have mostly been helping the locals fight off brigands. For a ‘civilized’ area, they sure do have a lot of outlaws. Seems kind of silly to have a hero-in-the-making like myself doing stuff like that though. Still, if it gets me popular with the locals, it can’t be all bad.
I was finally assigned a task worthy of a champion like myself… or so I thought. Turned out to be just more bounty hunting, but that’s what I get for trusting a smelly dwarf in a cart outside the Bree gate. I’m thinking he was there, and not inside the city for a reason! He did give me a pretty shiny axe though, seems well crafted.
The Nazgul that escaped us the night we confronted Amdir had apparently not run too far though - seems they had attacked the Prancing Pony in Bree in the dead of night, and then disappeared. However, there were only five attackers, and all the texts I’ve read mention nine of them. Yes, I’m not just a pretty face - I can also read! Maybe I’ll write about that later. Anyways, the rangers are sending Lunetta and myself into the old forest to search for the remaining ones.
