I just wanted to make a post to say that I am having a great time playing with my Burglar solo. My grand plan is to level each class to 60 and use all my characters as my own private crafting guild. It will take a really long time I think but I am having a blast currently with my Burglar. I enjoy the land around Bree almost as much as Ered Luin. Good times. If you are reading this I hope you are enjoying your game experience as much as I am and give me a shout if you happen to be on my server: Silverlode.

Today I had my first use of the in-game Lorebook and what a great resource that is! I was looking for all the ruins in Bree-Land to complete the requirement for that deed and the Lorebook which I can use while playing shows me the exact coordinates for my objective. Thanks Turbine!

I just finished reading “The Hobbit” again and feel that reading the book while playing LOTRO gives the game greater depth. Towards the end of the book I came across this passage.

“Beorn indeed became a great chief afterwards in those regions and ruled a wide land between the mountains and the wood; and it is said that for many generations the men of his line had the power of taking bear’s shape, and some were grim men and bad, but most were in heart like Beorn, if less in size and strength. In their day the last goblins were hunted from the Misty Mountains and a new peace came over the edge of the Wild.”

Reading this gave me the idea that it might be fun to play a Beorning in LOTRO. So I looked up the race on “Lord of the Rings Wikia” at this address: http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Beornings and read this:

“During the War of the Ring, while wearing the One Ring at Amon Hen upon the seat of seeing, Frodo Baggins saw many things from afar, including the land of the Beornings aflame. This hints at an attack by Sauron’s forces upon the Beornings, though the outcome of this attack is unknown. ”

I feel this passage gives the Beornings a context to fit in with the setting of LOTRO and I think I would enjoy playing as such a race. Tolkien’s LOTR world is so full of interesting characters and races. I never tire of reading his works.

Bronzemight

Bronzemight is reborn. Selecting a main character has always been a major challenge for me especially in a game such as LOTRO in which I greatly enjoy each of the classes. It is with great satisfaction that I now feel right at home with a Dwarf Guardian armoursmith as my main character. He will be the one with which I will delve through the story and world of Middle Earth as presented by the expert team at Turbine. I had some small concern at first that crafting would slow me down but have come to a solution. My Burglar who has the forestry crafting profession will boil the leather needed for my main armoursmith and when Bronzemight gets too far ahead in levels I will bring up Bjoryn to meet him so that the crafting is still on track thus saving me the hardship and disappointment of not finding what I need on the auction house or finding what I need though it may be out of my price range. Ah the sweet release of solving the character creation conundrum. And now on to Middle Earth where the humble dwarf (currently level 15) Bronzemight trains and helps the inhabitants on his way to greatness and greater adventures!!!!

-Bronzemight - Dwarf Guardian

So I have set off into Middle Earth as Bjoryn the burglar. Now that I print his name I see how it might be confused with the “B’joran” from Deep Space nine but my intent was an Icelandic style name such as “B’yor-in”.  Initially I had decided on my Dwarf Guardian as my main character and since I love crafting I got into that at level 15. I discovered though that crafting is not a self reliant skill set and that I will need the help of a forester to craft great armor. Thus was born Bjoryn the burglar who will focus on the explorer crafting profession set. At least Valdikirk my Guardian can make him a set of really great tools. I am liking the Burglar very much at this point so Bjoryn my turn out to be my new main character and Valdikirk may end up supplying him with needed tools and such. I do enjoy the guardian as well though and may go back to him occasionally. Time will tell for me. I really love the Lord of the Rings Online game and am enjoying it greatly. I love to see other players posted character shots at the higher level armor that is available to me later on. Time to get back to Middle Earth!!! Later.
