Arthier was the son of a wealthy merchant, traveling from place to place, as his family traveled he met a various amount of people. He began to learn various instruments from the people he met, but he was never good at writing stories. Until one day, when he was wandering the forest near the town of staddle, he witnessed two hobbits being attacked and captured. All he remembered after that was being knocked out and awoke to the sound of a burning building. The only escape was from a burnt wooden fence, though he did get scorched he found his way to bree, poor and alone.
Arthier soon found the prancing pony after a day or two of wondering the outside parts of bree, all he owned was a small stack of coins , hardly enough for a meal and a nights stay at the inn, and a wonderful oak harp he made by hand. Unfortunetly the harp was somewhat damaged but playable none the less. as he stepped in from the cold he could feel his dread and sadness pass from the warm fire. He made his way to the glowing fireplace and found a stool nearby. Sitting himself down he began to strum a soft note for all to hear. His playing soon grabbed the attention of the crowd, once he noticed he had their attention he began to sing a song of a hunter orphaned and after that of a champion from gondor trying to defend a city under siege. the stories began to stir the hearts of those who heard the tales to want to fight, cry, and dance with excitement. Out of habit while playing he kept his hat at his feet after playing noticed a few shiny gold coins in his hat. after collecting his “payment” he noticed a minstrel in a red outfit, black boots, and a brimmed hat with a big feather on the top.
He smiled and said ”hello” he said to the minstrel as she approached. “Hail good minstrel, what is your name?” was the reply. “My name is arthier, and what is yours? i would like to address you properly”; the other minstrel smiled at arthier’s personality and was going to tell him wither he asked her or not. “I am aradwen and i have come looking for recruits for my kinship and was wondering if you would be interested” “i would but don’t you need some special invitation in?” Arthier replied. “Silly” replied aradwen with a smile “i just did, go to staddle by tomorrow night and meet a friend of mine there, a hunter by the name of sulben he will help you get in” after she said what she wanted she left, leaving arthier to himself to think about joining a group of strangers he never knew. the thought of a life of adventure sounded great to him.
As he began to gather his things and head out he thought he saw a shadow move in the dark part of the inn, but he didn’t give any notice to the man in the back of the room watching his every move. as he began to step out into the cold and make his way to a shop for some supplies the shadowy figure slipped out the door quietly after him.
